Impromptu is a hand-drawn animated journey to the origins of cinema through its forgotten pioneers, the inventors and chronophotographers who captured moving images before 1895, including Eadweard Muybridge, Étienne-Jules Marey, Georges Demenÿ and Louis Le Prince. Set to five piano études by Frédéric Chopin, it is also a tribute to the muses of the fin de siècle and to the fascination with movement itself.
