Beryl, a 59-year-old factory worker, is obsessed with drawing and determined to become an artist, and her fixation dominates the household: her husband Ifor is her model and muse, her son Colin is a technology geek, and her sister Beverly is a narcissistic taxidermist living in Los Angeles. Glimpses of Beryl's, Beverly's and Colin's peculiar childhoods show that obsession runs in the family.
Joanna Quinn's hand-drawn film, written by Les Mills, is the latest in their series of Beryl films and the first co-production between Beryl Productions International and the National Film Board of Canada.
