Nestling

A lonely old man living in an old Moscow courtyard finds a helpless young jackdaw that has fallen from its nest, and caring for the bird brightens his grey life. But the old man turns out to be as defenceless as his pet against the thoughtless cruelty of a gang of neighbourhood boys, unless one of them has a kind enough heart to come to their aid.
