Akiko Takakura
Akiko Takakura is a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. On 6 August 1945 she was working at the Bank of Hiroshima in Kamiya-cho, about 300 metres from the hypocenter, and is one of the few people that close to the blast who survived. She later ran a kindergarten and has told her story to children and in recorded testimony. In the animated documentary Obon (2018) she recounts her memories in her own voice.
