Short Shot Fest is a short film festival based in Moscow that works in monthly sessions: submissions are collected from the 1st–4th of one month to the 1st–4th of the next, and winners are named for each category every month rather than once a year. Films are watched online by an international panel of producers, directors and screenwriters, which also writes a short review of each submitted film. The festival does not stream entries to the public; the winning films are screened in Moscow, at the Efir art centre and the "Books" pavilion at VDNKh.

Categories include comedy, drama, horror, documentary, animation, student, experimental, music video, mini short, screenlife and fashion films, series and commercials. The organiser's FilmFreeway page gives 24 April 2027 as the event date.

Festival rules

Only projects submitted on FilmFreeway are considered. Films not in English must have English subtitles. No premiere requirements, and films may already be available online. Student projects must have been a majority student production, and the submitter must have been a student at the time of production; all levels of education are eligible. Selected films must be supplied as an HD .MOV or .MP4 file. Selected films that do not want to use their official premiere can screen as a Preview but are not eligible for the Audience Award. Selected films are not uploaded online unless the submitter gives permission or the film is already public. Submitters grant the festival the right to use images, extracts and promotional material, with credit. Submissions open on the 1st-4th of each month and close on the 1st-4th of the next month; results are announced by e-mail 5-7 days after the deadline. Russian-language films may be submitted free of charge.
