The Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) combines independent film screenings with practical training, industry conversations and its signature 20-hour filmmaking challenge. Founded in 2016 by filmmaker Stanley Ohikhuare and supported through his company Mighty Jot, the festival gives particular attention to emerging filmmakers while also presenting work by established directors. Its programme connects filmmaking with technology, creative collaboration and the cultural life of its host cities.

The 2026 edition takes place in Worcester, United Kingdom, from 23–25 October 2026. Screenings span several city and campus venues, alongside industry sessions and the Hourglass Awards. RTF also hosts BlackAIfest, a separate festival focused on films using artificial intelligence.

Awards and prizes

The festival presents Hourglass Awards and recognises filmmaking, performance and technical achievement. Its 2026 opening-night awards include Best 3-Minute Film Competition, Best Festival-Themed Short Film and Best Festival-Themed BlackAIfest Film. The main awards ceremony is on 25 October 2026. Honourable-mention films receive certificates. The 2026 festival guide also provides for personalised RTF and BlackAIfest medals for attending filmmakers and crew.

Festival rules

Films are submitted through FilmFreeway during the submission period for the relevant edition. Selected films must be downloadable there with supporting publicity materials; subtitles must be embedded in the film. Submission fees are non-refundable, and the festival does not pay screening fees. Entrants permit promotional use of posters, stills, trailers and film excerpts of up to 20 seconds. Submitted files are retained for the festival library unless the filmmaker requests deletion after screening. Honourable mentions receive certificates but are not screened at physical venues. The 2026 guide requires nominees for the opening-night awards to attend in person.
