Porto/Post/Doc explores cinema of the real through documentary, fiction and hybrid forms, with competitions for features, medium-length films and shorts. Its Cinema Falado section focuses on Portuguese-language production and Lusophone cultures, Cinema Novo on emerging Portuguese filmmakers, and Transmission on music and sound. Retrospectives and thematic programmes sit alongside School Trip and Docs4Teens screenings for younger audiences and fulldome cinema at the Porto Planetarium.
Organised by Porto/Post/Doc Festival Cinema – Associação Cultural, the festival takes place across venues in Porto, Portugal. Porto Industry Days supports projects through development laboratories, work-in-progress screenings and co-production meetings. The 13th edition dates are 19–28 November 2026, with the thematic programme “In the Land of Others” examining belonging, identity and memory across borders.

Festival rules
2026 edition — 19–28 November, Porto, Portugal.
Selection and eligibility: Films must be completed after 1 January 2025. Competitive sections favour world premieres, followed by international and European premieres. Non-competitive screenings require a Portuguese premiere. Earlier Portuguese screenings, national television broadcasts or VOD availability accessible from Portugal make a film ineligible unless the festival expressly authorises an exception. Non-English films need English subtitles.
Competitions: International Competition accepts features of 60 minutes or more; International Medium-Length & Short Film Competition accepts medium-length works of 31–60 minutes and shorts up to 30 minutes. Cinema Falado covers productions or co-productions from Portuguese-speaking countries and films concerning Lusophone cultures. Cinema Novo covers Portuguese film-school works and Portuguese students studying abroad. Transmission concerns music, sound and their cultural or social connections. The Youth Jury, made up of higher-education students from Porto and Greater Porto, chooses from a six-film programme drawn across the festival.
Non-competitive programmes include School Trip for school audiences; Docs4Teens, a teenage-documentary partnership with Krakow Film Festival, Festival dei Popoli, FIPADOC and Docudays UA; 360-degree Immersive Dome Cinema at Porto Planetarium; filmmaker retrospectives and thematic focuses; and special screenings, galas and previews. School Trip accepts animation, fiction and documentary, in short and feature formats; the planetarium call is for fulldome films.
Submission: Apply through FilmFreeway. The 2026 deadlines are 31 January (early), 30 April (regular) and 31 July (extended). The platform lists notification on 19 October 2026.

By 19 October 2026, selected films must supply a high-resolution trailer, stills and promotional materials, two or three uncaptioned promotional clips, a downloadable film for internal and press use, a completed entry form and a dialogue list with timecodes. Rights and hospitality: If rights change hands after selection, the original rights holder must communicate the festival terms to the successor. Directors receive accommodation for the days on which they attend their film screenings; participants generally pay their own travel.
Final terms: Submission constitutes acceptance of the regulations. The festival may amend the rules without advance notice. Submission enquiries: opencall@portopostdoc.com.
