The Paleochora Lost World Short Film Festival screens international and Greek short films of up to 30 minutes in Paleochora, a town on the south-west coast of Crete. Evening programmes play outdoors in the Town Hall Square, with daytime screenings at the Pearl Cavo oceanside venue. All genres are accepted except gratuitous horror, and the awards include separate Greek and international categories.

Linda McGuire, an actor and filmmaker, founded the festival and directs it. It dates back to June 2019, when its first edition, held in association with the Municipality of Kandanos-Selinou, welcomed 22 visiting filmmakers and industry guests. The festival is a non-funded community initiative run by volunteers and supported by donations. The dates for the 2023 edition are 10–16 June 2023.

A working screener link, with or without a password, on Vimeo or an equivalent platform is required; DVD submissions are not considered. Screeners must be downloadable (MP4). Films in languages other than English must have English subtitles; foreign-language films with both English and Greek subtitles are preferred. Films completed on or after January 2013 are preferred, and earlier films are considered on merit. Films already streaming online are considered. There is no premiere requirement. Entry fees are not refundable, there are no fee waivers, and the festival does not pay screening fees.
