Moscow Shorts is an international short film competition organised as a monthly festival. Each month it selects submitted shorts in six categories — narrative, student, documentary, experimental, animation and music video — and names monthly winners, whose films are then shown at cinema screenings a few months later. The main venue is the Moskino Kosmos cinema in Moscow; from September 2021 the screenings also travel to other Russian cities, among them Kaluga, Kazan, Tyumen, Krasnodar, Kirov and Khabarovsk. Monthly winners compete for annual awards, presented at an Annual Event with a week of screenings.

The festival started on 18 February 2018. The latest Annual Event with published dates, closing the third season, is 22–28 July 2021. In November and December 2022 the festival tours Russian cities with the best films of its five years, and on 18 February 2023 the organisers announce the end of Moscow Shorts.
