Festival rules

2027 short film competitions: films must be no longer than 30 minutes, (co-)produced in geographical Europe and completed after 1 December 2025. Fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films are accepted. The New Arrivals competition is for European film-school work; Dutch submissions are automatically considered for the Dutch Competition. Films need clear English dialogue, no dialogue or English subtitles; Dutch-language films require subtitles after selection. A film submitted to a previous edition is ineligible. Entries require a completed online form, screener link and fee payment. Filmchief through the official website is preferred; FilmFreeway and Short Film Depot are also accepted. Deadlines are 15 September, 15 November and 15 December 2026. Fees through the official submission route for European, Dutch and New Arrivals entries are EUR 12.50, EUR 15 and EUR 20 respectively. Submission fees are non-refundable. Schools, distributors and institutions can request a multiple-entry discount from the programming team. Platform fees can differ. The Music Video Competition accepts works no longer than 30 minutes completed after 1 December 2025; its separate regulations do not specify a European production requirement. Its submission fee is EUR 7.50. Video games, VR/XR, performances and installations follow separate regulations: European (co-)production, maximum 30 minutes and completion after 1 January 2025, with English dialogue or subtitles as applicable. These projects require a form, audiovisual impression and digital project file, submitted through Filmchief or FilmFreeway; fees are EUR 8, EUR 10 and EUR 12 for the three deadlines. Selection notifications are due by 28 February 2027. Short film screenings require an unencrypted, tested DCP unless another format is authorised; the festival can create a DCP for a music video screening when needed. Selected films cannot be withdrawn after acceptance. Film representatives are expected for screenings and discussions. Competition films receive no screening fee; works shown solely out of competition receive a small fee. Entrants must hold the necessary screening rights. Separate permission is requested for online screenings. See the organiser's complete regulations for delivery, archive and promotional-use conditions.
