Low-budget filmmaking outside the conventions of commercial Hollywood defines the Montréal Underground Film Festival (MUFF). The Montréal, Canada event is run by a collective of independent filmmakers, writers, teachers and cinephiles, with an emphasis on creative freedom and experimentation. Co-founded in 2006 by Karina Mariano and Zoë Brown, it presents local and international work, including short films and experimental documentaries. Its selection excludes films affiliated with major studios and productions conceived as calling cards for the commercial industry.

The dates for the twentieth edition are 15–17 May 2026 at Groupe Intervention Vidéo. The programme combines thematic screenings with a special presentation and an Original MUFF Crew retrospective. Nominated films are considered for jury prizes, with each juror selecting a favourite.
