Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia

The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia presents contemporary and classic cinema from the Czech and Slovak Republics and former Czechoslovakia. Run by volunteers as a not-for-profit organisation, it combines live-action and animated films with retrospectives and cultural events. Its activities include exhibitions, children’s events and silent-film screenings with live musical accompaniment. The festival also collaborates with Melbourne Cinémathèque on contextualised retrospective programmes.

The 14th edition has the theme “Horizons”. Its main 2026 dates are 9–18 October in Melbourne, 6–8 November in Adelaide and 13–15 November in Brisbane. A Melbourne Cinémathèque retrospective focuses on composer Zdeněk Liška; additional Melbourne screenings take place on 28–29 November.
