Queer Mais Trash focuses on independent LGBTQIA+ cinema in Brussels, with feminist programmes alongside queer short films. Established in 2019 as the non-binary counterpart to Courts Mais Trash, it challenges fixed representations of gender and sexuality through underground filmmaking. Its screenings include Female Trouble, devoted to women filmmakers, Queer Mais Trash Deluxe and programmes exploring sexuality. Audiences participate directly by voting for the best queer film.

The 2026 Queer Mais Trash weekend runs from 20 to 22 November at Espace Magh, within the joint Courts + Queer Mais Trash event of 20–26 November. The programme includes a session dedicated to Brussels queer cinema.

Awards and prizes

The audience chooses the best queer film. The 2026 joint festival lists this distinction as the LGBTQIA+ Award, with the awards announced on 26 November. The shared submission rules specify a €500 audience prize for the best LGBTQIA+ film.

Festival rules

The joint Courts + Queer Mais Trash call accepts entries through FilmFreeway, with separate short-film and feature-film categories. Films must be independent and self-produced; a Deluxe programme accommodates higher-budget work. Filmmakers or production companies may submit, and entrants must be at least 18. Multiple entries are allowed. Films must be in their original language with French and/or English subtitles and produced within 48 months before the festival opens. Selected entrants provide an H264 or ProRes screening copy, synopsis, short filmmaker biography and representative image. Selected representatives receive festival accreditation. Submission authorizes non-exclusive, free worldwide use of trailers and stills for three years after enrolment, and promotional excerpts of up to one minute for the same period.
