Mecal Pro, Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival

Mecal Pro explores the short-film format through four competitive strands: fiction, animation, documentary and Oblique, its section for new narratives. Based in Barcelona and organised by Associació Mecal, the festival combines these competitions with thematic screenings, programmes for younger audiences and professional activities for filmmakers. Animation pitching, documentary development workshops and one-to-one meetings are part of its industry programme. Beyond the festival itself, Mecal promotes selected shorts through a screening network that includes Mecal Air. The 29th edition dates are 20–30 May 2027. Mecal Factory and Museu Can Framis are listed as festival venues.
