Free film screenings across Schiedam’s historic city centre are at the heart of Suikerzoet Filmfestival. Its programme combines recent feature films and previews with classics, children’s and youth screenings, and short films shown before features. Silent cinema with live musical accompaniment and a short-film competition form part of the festival’s programme. Churches, cinemas and other local venues serve as screening spaces.
The 20th edition dates are 18–22 November 2026 in Schiedam, the Netherlands. The anniversary programme includes around 100 films, a children’s programme, a short-film competition and live music.
