Students at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF organise Sehsüchte in Potsdam, with a new team taking responsibility for each edition. The festival is a teaching project of the university’s Media Studies programme, combining film curation and festival production with academic study. Its roots lie in the student film days established in 1972; the Sehsüchte name dates to 1995.

The programme spans fiction, documentary, animation and experimental film. Alongside screenings, Schreibsüchte presents screenplays and live pitches, while the exhibition and virtual reality sections explore audiovisual work beyond the cinema screen. The 56th edition dates are 21–25 April 2027 in Potsdam, under the motto “Who Told You That?”.
