Screenings across Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra bring international independent cinema to community venues throughout the Outer Hebrides, alongside An Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway. The Hebrides International Film Festival is a project of Rural Nations (Scotland) CIC. Its team selects drama, documentary and short films with local island promoters, connecting the programme to island culture, rural life and environmental concerns.

Film screenings sit alongside filmmaker masterclasses, discussions and Q&As, while wildlife walks, whale watching and beach cleans extend the environmental programme outdoors. The 2025 edition dates are 24–27 September 2025, with a focus on sustainable rural lives and climate action documentaries.
