At Bunter Hund, a volunteer selection team assembles international short films of up to 20 minutes, and the audience chooses the Hasso award winner. The competition sits alongside special programmes, including “Trash & Sonderbares”, at Munich’s Werkstattkino. Fiction, animation, documentary and experimental work all have a place in the selection.
Organised by Kulturkurzwaren e.V., the festival traces its beginnings to short-film screenings at the Free & Easy festival in 1997 and carries the Bunter Hund name from 1999. Its 2027 edition takes place at Werkstattkino from 8–11 April 2027.
