Filmfestival del Garda connects cinema with the cultural life of Lake Garda and Brescia, Italy. Organized by the cultural association Cineforum Feliciano, it dates back to 2007 in San Felice del Benaco. Its programme combines Italian and international feature films, documentaries, retrospectives and encounters with filmmakers, alongside workshops, masterclasses and events linking cinema with other arts. The Garda Ciak section highlights artists with roots in the Garda and Brescia area.

The dates for the seventeenth edition are 30 October–2 November 2024, with screenings at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera and Cinema Nuovo Eden in Brescia. Its competition, “No Borders / Senza Confini”, explores geographical and social boundaries; dedicated programmes examine Marlon Brando and Franco Basaglia.

Awards and prizes

For the 2024 edition, the audience selects the best feature film for the “Cav. Attilio Camozzi. Città di San Felice del Benaco” prize through ballots after screenings. A jury of professionals awards the “Giovanni Turolla” Critics’ Award and may give special mentions to other competition films.

Festival rules

The 2024 feature film competition accepts works by Italian and international filmmakers on the theme “No Borders / Senza Confini”, including films previously screened in cinemas or at other festivals. The artistic direction and selection committee determine admission. Entry requires a screener, synopsis, technical information and a short filmmaker biography/filmography, together with proof of the €20 registration payment. The 2024 submission deadline is 30 September 2024. Selected filmmakers supply a biography, press kit, high-resolution director photograph and two film stills, a screening file and, for non-Italian-language films, Italian dialogue subtitles in SRT format. Participation includes permission for non-profit cultural duplication and distribution. Screening schedules and catalogue preparation are determined by the artistic direction.
