Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale

Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale explores the connections between independent animation, moving-image art and contemporary art. Organised by Shenzhen OCT-LOFT, it combines film screenings with exhibitions, research, talks and exchanges between artists and curators. Its programmes encompass single-screen films as well as installations, audiovisual performance and experiments with games and digital media. The biennale dates back to 2012; its earlier editions include an international competition for original animated films.

The fourth edition, “Expanded Animation”, runs from 8 December 2018 to 10 March 2019, with C2 at OCT-LOFT as its main exhibition venue. It includes university collaborations, commissioned works, a curated screening programme and an animation archive.
