Parks, historic villas and castles in the Euganean Hills provide the setting for Euganea Film Festival, whose programme connects cinema with the landscape around Este and Monselice in Italy’s Veneto region. Its selection addresses environmental protection, cultural diversity and rural life through documentary, fiction and animation, with international competitions for features and short films.

The festival dates back to 2002 and is organised by Euganea Movie Movement. EFF HAB explores environmental issues and local territories outside competition, while EFF Kids&Teens presents films for younger audiences. Screenings sit alongside filmmaker meetings, workshops, concerts and other special events. The association also promotes regional film culture through activities across Veneto.

Awards and prizes

The 2026 regulations provide Best Feature Film (€1,000) and Best Short Film (€500) awards, plus jury awards for direction in both competitions. Special distinctions include the ZaLab View Award for a documentary in the official selection, with online distribution; an audience award; the Cinemambulante Award selected by students from partner schools; and the Kids&Teens Award decided by young viewers. Juries may assign additional prizes.

Festival rules

The 2026 regulations accept films completed after 1 January 2024 that address environmental protection and sustainable development, territories and cultural diversity, or rural and agricultural life. The international feature competition covers works longer than 41 minutes; the short competition accepts works of 41 minutes or less. EFF HAB is non-competitive, and EFF Kids&Teens is for young audiences aged 6+ and 10+. Films in languages other than English or Italian require subtitles in one of those languages. Submission uses the festival’s online form and a working screener link; temporary download links are not accepted. The 2026 submission deadline is 29 March, with minimum fees of €5 for features and €3 for shorts. Selected films with non-Italian dialogue require an Italian or English dialogue list.
