KLEX – Kuala Lumpur Experimental Moving Images & Music Festival

Artist-run KLEX connects experimental moving images with improvised and experimental music in Malaysia. Founded in 2010, the festival presents international open-call selections alongside programmes assembled by guest curators. Its screenings encompass animation, abstract graphics, image-and-sound experiments, experimental documentaries and unconventional narratives. Touring film programmes extend its work beyond Malaysia.

Music performances form part of the festival programme, with workshops and collaborations between local and visiting artists. The team also runs the Serious Play Improv Lab music series and ExScreen screenings. The 11th edition, themed Being Human, has dates of 28 November–1 December 2024 at the Percussion Store in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, with five short-film programmes and three nights of music.
