Los Angeles CineFest combines an international film selection with competitions for scripts and other screen-related work. It accepts short and feature films, documentaries, animation, experimental films, music videos, student work, web episodes and trailers, alongside screenplays, television scripts, film scores, photography and posters. Film industry specialists review submitted films and scripts, providing notes and scores.

Screenings include question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers, while the programme also includes an awards ceremony and opportunities for writers, directors and producers to discuss potential collaborations.
