Banjaluka International Animated Film Festival connects its international short animation competitions with the city’s animation tradition, whose roots lie in the May Festival of Animated Film “Banja Luka 71”. Organised by the FENIX ART Association for Visual Arts in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the festival dates back to October 2008, following animation screenings organised by the association from 2005.

Its Grand, Student and Children’s competitions sit alongside Panorama and Student Panorama selections, retrospectives, national focus programmes and masterclasses. Prizes recognise creativity, animation technique, children’s and student films, alongside the Grand Prix and audience award. The 18th edition dates are 23–28 October 2026, with screenings at Cineplexx Palas and exhibitions, lectures and presentations at the Student Cultural Centre and Milanović House.
