Kinodot focuses on experimental cinema and unconventional moving-image work, with a preference for minimalist approaches rather than fixed genre, subject or duration limits. Based in St. Petersburg, Russia, the independent project dates back to 2012 and its beginnings as an online short-film festival. Its programme extends to cinemas and unconventional venues, and its founding curators are Alena Koroleva and Mikhail Zheleznikov.

The original “No Money”, “No Mumbling”, “No Music” and “No Montage” criteria belong to its history rather than its mandatory entry conditions. A professional international jury chooses the best experimental film. The latest announced edition is the eighth, with online dates of 22–26 May 2020. Dates for a subsequent edition are unannounced.
