Animation about social issues shapes IN.S.A.N.E. animation film festival, a free, noncompetitive initiative organised by Petra Palm. Its selection includes international animated shorts, features and stop-motion films, grouped by subject and accompanied by discussions and workshops. Anti-racism, equality and freedom of expression form part of its stated focus.
The festival dates back to Malmö, Sweden, in 2015, with a programme marking a century of Swedish animation. Its activities also include themed pop-up screenings with partner organisations. The dates in the festival’s latest announced edition are 9–11 September 2016 in London, United Kingdom.
