Festival rules
Latest published regulations: 54th edition (2026). The festival accepts fiction, documentary, animation and experimental short films; tourism and advertising films and television series are excluded. The maximum running time is 30 minutes, or 40 minutes for documentaries. Non-documentary entries enter the Ibero-American or International competition according to their main production country; documentaries from all countries enter the Documentary competition. The 2026 rules require production after 1 January 2025 and exclude films submitted to previous editions. Entries are submitted through Festhome in their original language, with Spanish or English subtitles when the original language is neither. Selected films require a clean screening master and separate SRT subtitles in English, with Spanish also requested. These are the 2026 conditions; the announced 2027 dates do not establish the eligibility rules for that edition.
