Heritales - International Heritage Film Festival
Heritales – International Heritage Film Festival presents documentaries, animated films and short films about tangible and intangible heritage: the ways of life, customs, rituals, education and architecture of communities around the world. Born in 2016 in Évora, Portugal, it screens films in places of architectural value, often outdoors, such as convent courtyards, museums and community halls, followed by debates with filmmakers. Each edition is built around a theme, travels to venues in Portugal and abroad over many months and ends with an awards ceremony; the trophies are made by art students in Lisbon.
The sixth edition (2024–25) explores "The Role of Peace for Sustainable Communities" in partnership with the UNESCO Chair of Education for Global Peace and Sustainability at the University of Lisbon. Its awards event takes place in Almada on 5–8 June 2025. The next edition is announced for 2027.
