The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen examines the short form across experimental cinema, documentary, animation, fiction and artists’ moving images. Founded in 1954, it takes place in Oberhausen, Germany, and is organised by Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen gGmbH. Its five competitions cover international films, German productions, works from North Rhine-Westphalia, children’s and youth films, and German music videos through the MuVi Award.

The programme also includes thematic investigations, filmmaker profiles, retrospectives and discussions. A Video Library gives accredited professionals access to submitted works, while the market catalogue supports research into short films and their makers. The dates for the 73rd edition are 27 April–2 May 2027.
