Dance On Screen focuses on choreography created for the camera, exploring how movement, framing, editing and rhythm shape dance films. Founded by choreographer and dancer Valentina Moar, the festival dates back to 2016 in Graz, Austria. Its international programme combines short dance films with audience discussions, screendance workshops and juried awards. Space04 at Kunsthaus Graz is its venue since 2019.

The 11th edition dates are 30 October–1 November 2026 at Kunsthaus Graz. The programme comprises 37 international dance films across five screening blocks, alongside a workshop with filmmaker Clara van Gool and choreographer Jordi Cortés Molina.

Festival rules

The 2026 call accepts one film per applicant from filmmakers, dance companies and collectives worldwide. Eligible works use dance, movement or physical expression, including dance animation. Stage recordings and dance documentaries are excluded from the competition; longer films may receive separate non-competitive screenings. Submission is through FilmFreeway. Applicants must control all film and music rights. Selected filmmakers supply a Full HD screening copy, synopsis, stills and credits within two weeks of notification. The festival pays no screening fee and retains submissions in its library. English or German subtitles are recommended when speech is essential to understanding the work. Films rejected in earlier editions are ineligible.
