CinEast explores Central and Eastern European cinema through fiction, documentary and animation, with short-film marathons alongside feature screenings. Its programme extends across Luxembourg City and other towns in the Grand Duchy, combining contemporary work with retrospectives, classics, school screenings and films for children. Concerts, photography exhibitions, debates and themed evenings connect the films with the region’s wider cultural life.

Organised by the non-profit association CinEast asbl, the festival dates back to 2008. Its competitions include international and press juries, a Young Talents Award for first or second-time directors, and audience awards for features and short films. The 19th edition (9–25 October 2026) includes a focus on Bulgaria and a special Ukrainian programme.
