BLON brings animated film together with video games, AR and VR in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The non-profit festival dates back to 2015 and presents international, Baltic Sea-Nordic, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and young-audience animation competitions, alongside animated features, game and VR exhibitions. Its Aware Game Awards focus on games that explore personal experiences and social issues. Industry talks and workshops connect the film and games programmes with professional practice.

BLON is part of the Northern Animation Network with Fredrikstad Animation Festival, Viborg Animation Festival and REX since 2025, co-financed by Creative Europe MEDIA. A joint submission platform considers films for all four festivals. The dates of the 2026 edition are 10–13 September 2026, with a preview screening on 9 September 2026.

The festival also presents jury special mentions. The Young Audience Award is selected by school pupils from Klaipėda. The Aware Game Awards recognise games addressing personal experiences and social issues; the 2026 call specifies an international jury of five professionals and a €1,000 prize for the winning game.

Festival rules

2026 film competitions: films of any animation technique are eligible, with AI use disclosed. Films must not exceed 30 minutes including credits; BLON specifies completion within the last two years, while the joint Northern Animation Network submission rules specify completion on or after 1 January 2025. Non-English films need English subtitles. Films are submitted digitally once, with required materials and cleared rights; screening formats are DCP, ProRes or MPG4. BLON organisers and local industry experts preselect works for competition or other screenings and confirm each selection separately. Regional categories use the origin of the director, producer or writer: Lithuania for Lithuanian Animation; Ukraine for Ukrainian Animation; and Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Germany or Poland for Baltic Sea-Nordic Animation. Submission permits physical screenings across Lithuania; any future online screening requires prior notification and filmmaker agreement. BLON permits promotional excerpts up to three minutes or 10% of the film; the joint NAN terms set a one-minute promotional limit. Selected films cannot be withdrawn; submission fees are non-refundable. Further non-commercial highlights screenings within one year require rights-holder agreement. Submission accepts the regulations and necessary festival/archive data processing.
