Festival rules

For IFFR 2027, films must be completed after 1 January 2026 and must not have screened in the Netherlands or been submitted to IFFR previously. Short and mid-length films run under 64 minutes and require a world, international or European premiere; the Tiger Short Competition requires a world premiere. Tiger Competition accepts world premieres by first-, second- or third-time feature directors. Student films are excluded except work made during a postgraduate master’s year. Works in progress are considered if they can be finished for the festival. Submissions require the online entry form, payment and a streamable, downloadable preview available until 7 February 2027. Preview copies require English subtitles, including English- and Dutch-language films, except works without dialogue. Selected films must provide screening materials by 16 December 2026. Full participation conditions also cover publicity, screening formats, scheduling and rights-holder consent.
