Animafilm International Animation Festival

ANIMAFILM is an animation festival in Baku, organised every year since 2018 by the Azerbaijan Animation Association together with ANIMAFILM LLC. Each edition has its own theme, such as climate change in 2022, women’s rights in 2023, cats in 2025 and the sea in 2026, and ticket revenue often goes to a cause linked to it, from tree planting to support for young women directors.

The competition has international and Azerbaijani sections, with a Grand Prix for the best short animated film, awards for films for children and for animated TV series, and the ANIMAFILM Pitching Competition for new projects. Out-of-competition screenings, workshops and masterclasses complete the programme, and regional editions take the festival to Sheki, Nakhchivan, Lankaran, Ganja and other cities. The dates of the 9th edition are 13–17 May 2026, at the Nizami Cinema Center and the Fluxus Space gallery.
