Göteborg Film Festival, founded in 1979, is a major meeting place for the Nordic film industry and draws around 270,000 visits a year. It runs for eleven days at the turn of January and February in Göteborg, Sweden, as a hybrid event: a curated selection of films screens at the same time in the festival cinemas and in its digital theatre, Göteborg Film Festival Online. The programme presents around 250 films from some 80 countries, together with talks, workshops and concerts.

The competitions cover Nordic features, international features, documentaries, first and second films (the Ingmar Bergman Competition) and Swedish shorts (Startsladden); the Dragon Award Best Nordic Film carries SEK 400,000. Nordic Film Market, the TV Drama Vision conference and the Nostradamus foresight report form the industry programme, and in October the organisers run Prisma, a festival for young audiences. The 50th edition runs from 29 January to 7 February 2027.
