Trinity Film Festival is run by students and presents short films by undergraduate filmmakers at Cinestudio on the Trinity College campus in Hartford, Connecticut. Its programme accepts any genre, limits films to ten minutes, and requires selected filmmakers to attend the screening and awards ceremony, with pre-approved exceptions. The festival dates back to 2012.

A student organising team prepares the event throughout the academic year. Around 20–25 selected filmmakers share a screening with local audiences and a panel of film professionals, followed by an awards banquet on campus. Jury prizes, an audience vote and other committee awards recognise the selected work, with cash prizes for leading films.

Awards and prizes

The festival presents cash prizes to leading films selected by its professional judging panel. It also presents an Audience Choice award and prizes recognising direction, writing, acting, sound, cinematography and editing, together with committee awards. The official submission listing also describes in-kind services and products; award categories and terms are subject to change.

Festival rules

For the 2026 edition, entrants must produce their film while enrolled as undergraduates at an accredited college or university. Films must be completed, may be of any genre, and must run no longer than ten minutes. Non-English dialogue requires English subtitles. The eligibility window starts on 1 September 2024 and also covers qualifying films completed in the final undergraduate year of 2024–2025. Selected films require in-person representation at the screening and awards ceremony, unless the festival approves an exception. Proof of enrolment or recent graduation is required. Detailed current terms are provided through the official submission platform.
