Tribeca Festival presents independent cinema alongside television, music, podcasts, games and digital storytelling in New York City. Its film programme spans narrative and documentary features, short films, animation, experimental work and music videos, with selections from emerging and established filmmakers. Operated by Tribeca Enterprises, the festival combines premieres and public screenings with conversations, live performances and industry activity. Its Tribeca Pitch Market includes a Works in Progress showcase for feature projects in late production or post-production.

The festival dates back to 2001, with founders Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff linking its origins to the cultural and economic recovery of lower Manhattan. The dates for the 2027 edition are 3–12 June 2027.

Festival rules

2027 film submissions: Narrative and documentary features run at least 40 minutes; shorts run under 40 minutes and include narrative, documentary, animation, experimental films and music videos. Features require at least a New York State premiere. Shorts accept submissions from all regions; New York premiere status is required for competition, except for music videos. Music videos must have no public screening, broadcast, distribution or exhibition before 1 January 2026. Non-English projects require English subtitles when submitted. Each project requires its own completed online entry form, viewing link and applicable non-refundable fee. Rough cuts are accepted when clearly labelled with the work still outstanding. Student-short discounts require a student director and production through an accredited educational institution. Separate eligibility and submission requirements apply to television, digital creators, games, podcasts, Tribeca X and Works in Progress.
