First and second works, independent filmmaking and experiments in film language anchor the Torino Film Festival’s programme in Turin, Italy. Organized by the National Cinema Museum, it dates back to 1982 and its origins as the International Youth Film Festival. Its competitions cover international feature films, documentaries and shorts, alongside out-of-competition screenings, the unrestricted Zibaldone section and retrospectives that examine cinema history.
The 44th edition runs from 24 November to 2 December 2026 under artistic director Giulio Base, with the opening ceremony at the Teatro Regio. Its retrospective focuses on Marilyn Monroe and includes 24 films, combining her screen performances with documentaries and later interpretations of her life.
