Tirana International Film Festival

Independent features and short films sit alongside a particular focus on Balkan cinema and Albanian-language filmmaking at the Tirana International Film Festival. Established in 2003 and organised by the Tirana Film Institute, TIFF presents fiction, documentary, animation, experimental film and video art in Albania’s capital. Its PerspecTIFF competition concentrates on debut features, while separate programmes cover student work and films for children and teenagers. RetrospecTIFF and country-focused screenings place contemporary selections beside film history. The Panorama sections explore subjects including migration, generations and queer lives. Beyond screenings, Screenplay ContesTIFF connects short-film scripts with production and distribution opportunities, and the festival includes masterclasses, discussions and industry events.
