She boards a “therapy bus,” full of war-veterans’ children, travels through Finland where she meets an arms dealer, learns to shoot, seeks a witch’s guidance, all while moving toward the pistol - and her past. A beautifully bittersweet documentary, it is a personal journey in search of existential identity, roots, answers, genealogical symbols, as well as a commentary on the weight of History on the daily lives of ordinary people. Exquisitely shot, The Smuggler talks about a woman's need to understand her father, retroactively heal his trauma and, through this paradoxical “therapy,” find her own role and place in the world.",80,"2026",false,"https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1649022",[17
15,"Documentary","documentary",[22,26,30
134,"Finland","finland
223,"Norway","norway
275,"Sweden","sweden",[35
459,"Swedish (Svenska)","swedish",[40
th600":42,"th1200":43,"th1600":44
39137,"https://img.r.vurchel.com/films/_th600/the-smuggler-sylvelin-makestad-wxkn6u1q.webp?v=a13ecc61","https://img.r.vurchel.com/films/_th1200/the-smuggler-sylvelin-makestad-wxkn6u1q.webp?v=a13ecc61","https://img.r.vurchel.com/films/_th1600/the-smuggler-sylvelin-makestad-wxkn6u1q.webp?v=a13ecc61","/img/_og/56957.jpg?v=a13ecc61",600,334,[49
48314,"Sylvelin Måkestad","sylvelin-makestad","director",[55
48315,"Ballad Film","ballad-film",[],[61,68
57543,"Nordisk Panorama Film Festival","nordisk-panorama-film-festival",[66
Best Nordic Documentary
47735,"Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival","thessaloniki-international-documentary-festival-tidf-greece","Greece",[]]
