Birgit Yew

Also known as: Birgit Yew von Keller

Birgit Yew, also known as Birgit Yew von Keller, is a cellist, singer and composer born in Hamburg and based in France. She studied cello with private teachers and at the Montpellier conservatoire, played as a cellist at the Opéra de Rouen, formed the DVK Quintet and trained in voice at the Roy Hart Theatre from 1984. Since 1999 she has combined cello and voice in concerts, improvisation, collaborations and film music, and she leads sound workshops using the cello and voice.
