Helena Ignez

Helena Ignez is a Brazilian actress, screenwriter and film director born in Salvador, Bahia. She left law studies for the theatre school of the Federal University of Bahia and made her screen debut in Glauber Rocha's short Pátio (1959). In the late 1960s she became one of the leading performers of Brazilian Cinema Marginal, notably in the films of Rogério Sganzerla, and later also directed her own films.
