Marc James Roels

Marc James Roels is a filmmaker based in Antwerp, Belgium, whose work spans live action and stop-motion animation. He began with live-action shorts including Mompelaar and A Gentle Creature before forming a directing partnership with Emma De Swaef. Their films include This Magnificent Cake! (2018), which screened at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Toronto and Telluride, and the opening chapter of the Netflix anthology The House (2022).
