Natalia Grofpel is a Russian animation director, production designer and animator who works in both auteur and commercial animation and makes her own films in handmade techniques. Born in Yekaterinburg, she graduated in animation from the Shadr Sverdlovsk Art College in 2007 and from VGIK in 2015 as a director of animation and computer graphics (workshop of Natalia Orlova). Since 2005 she has worked as an artist, animator and director at studios in Yekaterinburg and Moscow, including Aeroplan, Soyuzmultfilm and VGIK-Debut; her films include Fairy Tale (2014), Doll's Letters (2016), Forest Deer (2022) and Animetro. She has taught at VGIK and leads courses in animation sketching.
