Jackson Abacatu

Jackson Abacatu is a Brazilian artist, filmmaker and musician from Belo Horizonte, born in 1982. He studied animation and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and has worked in cutout, traditional 2D, stop-motion, sand, digital cutout and paint-on-glass animation. Since 2006 he has made animated shorts such as Libertas, Tembîara and Matiz as well as music videos for Brazilian artists, and his films have screened in countries including Argentina, Colombia, Canada, Italy and Armenia. He has released the albums Trilhas sonoras de filmes quiméricos (2018) and Abstract Works (2019) and heads the production company Etama Produções.
