Films run up to 30 minutes, and the selection of 80 to 120 titles a year gives particular room to subjects and productions that are usually under-represented, to films without previous festival screenings and to local filmmaking. The festival started in 1994 as an open-air event at the Amöneburg castle ruins and has kept its open-air character through several venues. It is run by the non-profit Verein zur Förderung der Filmkultur in Marburg e.V.; students from its seminars at Philipps-Universität Marburg take part in the selection, and the festival produces its own audio-described versions of films. The 30th edition took place on 24–27 July 2025 at the Schlossparkbühne and the Capitol cinema; the organisers have left open whether a further edition will follow.",[21],{"year":22,"hasAwards":16,"hasSelection":23},"2023",true,[],[26],{"key":27,"title":9,"filmIds":28},"more",[29],1098,[],[32],{"entryId":29,"urlTitle":33,"status":7,"title":34,"synopsis":35,"duration":36,"hasFullFilm":16,"hasTrailer":16,"image":37,"directors":38,"series":15},"beauty-the-beasts-aggie-pak-yee-lee-hong-kong-2021","Beauty & the Beasts","One night, a lady meets a group of lovely beasts — gigantic, slimy and cheesy ones.
