It has carried its current name since 2013 and is produced by Laboratorios Black Velvet. Its official statuette, Santa Lucía, the patron saint of the blind, has been awarded since 2007, and the festival is an official qualifier for the Academy Awards and, for Spanish shorts, the Goya Awards. BOGOSHORTS is devoted to the short format and shows around 400 shorts each December in national, international, fantastic-genre (F3), virtual-reality, journalistic and Ibero-American Official Connection competitions. The BOGOSHORTS Film Market, which the festival describes as the only market in Latin America dedicated to short films, runs alongside it.
