Established in 1995 in connection with the centenary of cinema and the Barcelona Declaration, the Rome festival is organised by Methexis. Its programme combines feature and short-film competitions with independent Italian cinema, European showcases, retrospectives and films made in prison settings. The Methexis short-film jury includes film students and prisoners from an Italian penitentiary. MedMeetings provides an industry programme through MedPitching for projects in development and MedWIPs for films in post-production. University masterclasses and discussions accompany the screenings.
