Its programme covers interactive installations, virtual, augmented and mixed reality, games, generative works, animation, video art, short films and music, alongside workshops, an opening lecture and the FILE LED SHOW in a digital art gallery that runs every night. Works are selected by the festival's curators from an international open call. The festival is organised by an independent non-profit cultural organisation co-founded by Ricardo Barreto and Paula Perissinotto, and its first edition dates back to 2000. Besides its São Paulo exhibitions, FILE has staged editions in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília and other Brazilian cities, and its FILE Archive documents past editions online.
