The first edition took place in May 2002. Each edition is built around a theme that shapes one competition section and is explored beyond cinema through talks, concerts, exhibitions and performances in Reggio Emilia and nearby towns. Alongside the themed competition, the programme includes a free-theme section, a selection of films from Emilia-Romagna and Family Shorts for children and families, with prizes from an international jury, school and university juries and the audience.
